SFQ at national level

The Swedish Federation of LGBTQ Student Organizations (Sveriges Förenade HBTQ-studenter, SFQ) is a federation for local LGBTQ student organizations at universities and university colleges in Sweden.

Today, SFQ has 22 member organizations, from Malmö in the south to Piteå up north. The main goal of SFQ is to improve the situation for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer students at Swedish universities and university colleges.

This is accomplished by forming a central force for the local LGBTQ student organizations and allowing them to work together on a national basis to improve legislation, policies and attitudes. SFQ also has a secondary role of acting as a social meeting place for gay students throughout the country.

SFQ works internationally, mainly within the Nordic and Baltic region, but also with other international partners. During 2008, several interesting projects will take place with among other Polish and Romanian partners.

SFQ is member of ANSO, Association of Nordic LGBTQ Studenter Organizations, and IGLYO, International LGBTQ Youth & Student Organisation. SFQ works closely together with RFSL Ungdom, The Swedish Youth Federation for LGBT Rights.

SFQ collaborates with other associations like RFSL, The Swedish Federation for LGBT Rights, SFS, The Swedish National Union of Students, and LSU, The National Council of Swedish Youth Organisations.
